There are two devices the writer is using.Poetic repeating the same letter or sound at the beginning of adjacent or closely connected words. The second device is personification form of personification that applies human-like characteristics to animals or objects. For me success means to achieve my goals in my personal as well as my professional life.

One device that the writer is using in this quote is alliteration. As in "to leave the world a bit better". He is also using an oxymoron when he says "the betrayal of false friends". I agree with this quote when it says that "to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded."I would consider that success. I think a successful life is being happy, treating others with kindness and respect, always thinking of others before myself, and obtaining the personal goals I set for myself.
